First-Time Salon Visitor Guide: What to Expect at Rabbiz

A warm, practical walk-through of your first appointment at Rabbiz Salon in DHA Phase 3 — from booking to blowdry, and everything in between.

Walking into a new salon for the first time can feel a little like a blind date — you're hopeful, slightly nervous, and quietly praying you don't leave with regrets. At Rabbiz Salon in DHA Phase 3, we've had first-timers who whispered their hair goals and left three hours later chatting like old friends. This guide is written to take the guesswork out of your first appointment so you arrive relaxed, prepared, and clear on what you actually want.

Whether you're booking a quick threading appointment or a full bridal trial, here's what your first visit really looks like — and how to get the most out of it.

Before You Book: Getting Clear on What You Want

The biggest mistake first-time clients make is booking a service they've heard about rather than a service that actually suits their hair or skin. A friend's keratin miracle might be your frizz nightmare. A viral facial trend might be too active for your barrier.

Before you pick up the phone:

  • Take three honest photos of your hair or skin in natural daylight — front, side, and the area that bothers you most.
  • Note your last three salon experiences. What did you love? What went wrong?
  • Write down your non-negotiables. Length you refuse to cut, colours you hate, ingredients your skin reacts to.
  • Have a rough budget in mind. It's kinder to yourself and to the stylist.

If you're unsure whether you want a facial, a deep cleansing, or simply a good polishing session, call us. We'd rather spend ten minutes on the phone than have you sit in the chair for the wrong service.

Booking and Arrival at DHA Phase 3

Rabbiz Salon runs on appointments, not walk-ins, and there's a reason for that. Rabia — our founder and Canadian-certified lead artist — designs the day so every client gets uninterrupted attention. Same-day slots do exist, but weekends and evenings fill up 5–7 days in advance, especially during wedding season (October to March in Lahore is chaos, beautifully so).

When you book, you'll be asked:

  1. The service you want (and whether you'd like Rabia specifically for signature services)
  2. Your hair length and type, if the service involves hair
  3. Any allergies, pregnancy, or recent treatments like retinoids or chemical peels
  4. Whether it's for a specific event

Arrive 10 minutes early. Parking inside DHA Phase 3 is generally easy but can get tight near mealtimes. You'll be greeted, offered chai, coffee or water, and shown to the consultation area.

The Consultation: The Most Important 10 Minutes

This is the part most Lahore salons skip. We don't.

Before a single tool is picked up, your stylist will sit with you and go through:

  • Your hair or skin history — past treatments, colour, chemical services, medications
  • Your lifestyle — how much time you realistically spend styling, whether you swim, wear hijab, sleep with wet hair
  • Your reference photos — and an honest discussion of what's achievable on your specific hair texture or skin tone
  • Pricing confirmation for the full service, including any add-ons

If you're considering something transformative — say, balayage or a global colour, hair extensions, or the Signature service with Rabia — this consultation might extend to 20 minutes. That's normal. Nobody should be committing to a Rs. 40,000 treatment on the fly.

What to Say if You Don't Know What You Want

Say exactly that. "I don't know what I want, but I know I don't feel good about my hair right now" is one of the most useful sentences a stylist can hear. It opens the door to genuine expert advice instead of a rushed order-taking exchange.

During the Service: What's Normal, What to Speak Up About

Once you're in the chair, a few things you can expect:

  • You'll be draped and gowned properly. Wear something you can slip out of at the shoulders if you're getting a facial or massage.
  • Your stylist will check in mid-service. For colour, we'll show you the tone before it fully processes. For a haircut, we'll pause after the initial shape.
  • Temperature, pressure, and music are all adjustable. Please ask. Sitting through an uncomfortable water temperature for an hour is not a personality trait.

Speak up immediately if:

  • Any product stings, burns, or itches beyond mild tingling
  • The head massage pressure is too much or too little
  • You're feeling faint (common during long threading or waxing sessions if you skipped breakfast)
  • You've changed your mind about a length or shade — before the scissors or bowl commit

A good stylist wants feedback in real time. Complaints after the fact help no one.

Timing: How Long Things Actually Take

First-timers routinely underestimate salon time. A realistic breakdown:

  • Threading (brows + upper lip): 15–20 minutes
  • Full-leg organic sugar waxing: 45–60 minutes
  • Signature facial: 60–90 minutes
  • Medi-pedi: 60–75 minutes together
  • Haircut and blowdry: 60–90 minutes depending on length
  • Global colour or balayage: 3–5 hours
  • Party makeup: 60–90 minutes; bridal: 2.5–3.5 hours

Build buffer time on either side. Rushing a colour appointment because you have iftar plans in an hour is how mistakes happen.

Aftercare, Tipping and Rebooking

Before you leave, your stylist will walk you through aftercare specific to your service — how long to wait before washing hair after colour, how to protect freshly waxed skin from Lahore's sun, which product to use on the tender post-facial skin. Ask for it in writing on WhatsApp if you're forgetful. We're happy to send it.

Tipping is not mandatory but appreciated — 5–10% of the service, or a flat Rs. 500–2000 depending on the service size, is a lovely gesture and typically goes directly to the assistant and stylist who worked on you.

Rebooking on the spot is genuinely worth it. For colour maintenance, facials, or nails, locking in your next slot before you leave saves you the weekend-scramble later.

A Small Note on Salon Etiquette

We're a women-only space, which means many clients use their appointment as their one quiet hour of the week. If you're bringing a friend or child, let us know in advance so we can seat them comfortably. Phone calls on speaker, please no — headphones are welcome. And if you're running more than 15 minutes late, a quick message helps us reshuffle without pushing everyone else's day back.

Your first visit sets the tone for a relationship, not a transaction. Come curious, come honest about your hair and skin history, and let us take it from there.

Good to know

quick questions —

Answered.

Do I need to book in advance or can I walk in?
We run on appointments to give every client proper time and attention. Same-day slots are sometimes available on weekdays, but weekends and wedding season (October–March) fill up 5–7 days ahead. A quick WhatsApp or call is the fastest way to secure your preferred stylist and time.
What should I wear to my first salon appointment?
Something comfortable with a wide or button-front neckline so you can slip it off the shoulders easily for facials, massages or hair services. Avoid white if you're getting colour done, and skip heavy jewellery around the neck and ears if you're booked for hair or threading.
How do I know which stylist to request?
For signature bridal makeup, colour transformations or first-time consultations on major services, request Rabia directly. For maintenance services like threading, waxing, medi-pedi and routine facials, our senior team is fully trained to the same standard. When in doubt, ask us at booking.
Can I bring reference photos, and will you actually follow them?
Yes, please bring them — they're the clearest way to communicate. Just know that your natural hair texture, base colour, and skin undertone will shape what's realistically achievable. Your stylist will walk you through what's possible on your specific hair or skin before starting.
